"Whilst first birthday are short and sweet and barely on the radar for the birthday girl or boy, I couldn't help but get into the party spirit for my first child's birthday. Isla entered the world quite gracefully on 30 September 2015. It's been such a magical year I thought a unicorn themed birthday would be quite fitting."
Get ready to be awed by the delightfulness that was Isla's first birthday. Proving that the humble backyard birthday party can still be #PinterestWorthy, this unicorn party was set up at home, with splashes of pastel and unicorn party decorations, and our foil curtain providing the perfect backdrop piece.
"With a backyard full of friends and lots of toys to keep the toddlers busy I barely took a photo all day. One of the best decisions I made was to hire a photographer for an hour to capture the event. It meant all my hardwork was beautiful captured before the onslaught of guests arrived as well as having so beautiful pictures throughout the party."
With simple party food like homemade sausage rolls, fairy bread and fruit kebabs, Lisette's eye for detail transformed the simple soiree into a magical wonderland. When in doubt, stick to a simple colour palette and add fresh flowers for decoration! Make the most of your party decor purchases by repurposing them later on:
"We did a DIY cake smash the day after the party and repurposed much of the party decor. It was great fun for all of us, especially our food loving dog Angus who collected all the crumbs on the floor."
"I painstakingly made a three layer chocolate mud cake with caramel filling and caramel cream cheese buttercream icing. I finished it off with a pastel watercolour icing, gold unicorn horn, macarons, fresh flowers, unicorn bark and mini meringues."
